North Devon Council customers are being advised of potential service disruption due to Coronavirus.
The authority has had two members of staff test positive - one in Waste and Recycling and one in the Customer Services telephone team. As a result, other members of staff have been instructed to self isolate.
This means that refuse collections may not always be completed although the teams are doing the best they can to reach everyone. If bins are missed, customers are advised to leave them out for 48 hours but if they aren't collected, to take them back in and put them out again on their next scheduled collection day alongside any extra waste.
Due to the staff shortages, the NDC Customer Services team has closed Lynton House in Barnstaple. Ilfracombe and South Molton Town councils have also closed their joint reception areas. This means that all three councils can now only be contacted online or via telephone.
Almost all North Devon Council business can be carried out on its website and customers are being urged to use that option first and to only telephone if absolutely necessary.
People wanting to contact Ilfracombe Town Council should visit their website. People wanting to contact South Molton Town Council should visit their website.
The councils can be contacted on the following telephone numbers:
NDC: 01271 327711
ITC: 01271 855300
SMTC: 01769 572501
The situation will be reviewed again at the end of next week.
